My Grandfather

I'm sad to announce my Grandfather passed away last week. For those that know me know that we were extremely close and that this has been the biggest loss of my life. To simply say my Grandfather was an amazing man would be a huge understatement. Grandpa was the most generous and loving man I've ever known. He made special connections with everyone he met.

I have so many happy memories of him that I do not know where to begin. Just the weekend before he passed away my father, fiance and I were there to visit. We got the opportunity to go out and have prime rib dinner, grandpa's favorite meal. Throughout the day we talked about everything from Mariners baseball to American Idol. It is those talks (or sometimes debates) that I will remember most.

Although I am deeply saddened he will not see me get married in July and will not be there for the birth of my children, his presence will remain with me for the rest of my life. I will be honored to pass along what I've learned from him to my kids. I was extremely lucky to have him in my life for 31 years. He will always be loved and remembered!

Here is my dedication to his life...

Went Zumba'ing with Kirsten and Reba

Saturday morning Kirsten, Rebecca and I decided to try out this cardio fitness class at the ProClub called Zumba (not to be confused with Zuma the video game :-)).

Here is a short description from the ProClub's website... "Hypnotic musical rhythms fused with exciting moves in a dynamic workout that's fun and easy to do. The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms are combined with resistance training to tone, sculpt, and energize the whole body."

It was kind of like line dancing but much harder, since it was very Latin influenced. And since I have no rhythm and never danced before I looked like a fish out of water. Specially since I was about a full second behind everybody else. Not to mention I was one of like three 3 guys there. But none the less it was a blast and did manage to get me sweating. It wasn't as good as doing some elliptical training but definitely a fun alternative. I look forward to trying it out again next weekend.
